We carry out activities with the following objectives.
We hope that the proceeds from the performance will go to the Chianan Agricultural Irrigation Association, which manages the memorial, and that this will help spread the word both at home and abroad about Hatta Yoichi, who is little known in Japan outside of intellectuals and people of Ishikawa Prefecture, and that this will foster friendship between Japan and Taiwan.

He has been the producer and performer of this show since 2017.
Japanese dance artist and stage producer.
He became the master of the 5th generation prestigious Fujima school, and while inheriting the classics, he continues to create new performing arts inspired by his own inspiration. He does not hold recitals, but instead performs professionally and as a guest performer alongside former Kabuki actors.
Performed in the Tale of Genji, Shizuka Gozen, The Peony Lantern, Princess Kaguya, Heaven's Rock Door Opening, The Fox's Wedding, and the Hatta Yoichi Memorial Performances. Performed in Saudi Arabia, Carnegie Hall, Off-Broadway, Versailles, Montpellier, San Marino, Dusseldorf, Hanoi, Harlong, Delhi, Benares, and Khajuraho.
Who is Yoichi Hatta?
A great man from Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, who is loved as the father of Taiwan, is featured in textbooks, has a bronze statue erected, and has a memorial service held every year. After graduating from the civil engineering department of Tokyo Imperial University, he worked as a hydraulic engineer under the Taiwan Governor-General during the Japanese colonial period.
At that time, the Chianan Plain (Tainan region) was plagued by repeated droughts and floods, making it difficult to grow crops and providing drinkable water; the people were poor, the roofs of farmers' houses were made of banana peels, and malaria was rampant.
There, he completed the Wushantou Dam, the largest in the Orient, and a waterway that circumnavigates half of the globe, laying the foundation for China's development as a prosperous agricultural nation.
Even though he has passed away, a memorial service is held every year in Taiwan on May 8th, the anniversary of his death. The bronze statue of his wife holding their child is also well preserved.
A memorial to the Taiwanese people who died during the dam construction is looked after by the Chianan Agricultural Irrigation Association.
